1 out of 5 stars First the first 5 months of 2010 did not exist, now I'm locked out!   August 30, 2010

First Quicken 2010 wouldn't show any 2010 transactions before I installed the software received from Intuit. All registers went from 12-31-09 to 5-24-10. When I downloaded data from my bank, only data from 5-24-10 was downloaded. And when I had a month of new data, it "reconciled" it using the 12-31-09 register total. I manually input a CD bought during the missing period--it was not updated with the other CDs. Quicken support said they never had this problem before. I've been using Quicken since 1995. Never have I had problems like this before. It ignored account totals and began sending downloads to th Windows download folder but not recognizing it as a Quicken file. I had no idea where my accounts were unless I checked each financial institution. It seems an old time check register will be needed. When downloading, Quicken always wanted to set up old established in Quicken accounts as new accounts. It wouldn't let me click on established account. I panicked and closed Quicken as I was in no mood to transfer every action to the established account or hide the established and deal with the new one. After thinking it over and checking my "official Guide" (Maria Langer), I again tried to open Quicken--I was locked out unless I could come up with an access number and none of my former pass words worked. Now I really can't use it. Quicken 2010 is not ready for even amateur time, let alone prime time.

2 out of 5 stars Import from MS Money useless   August 29, 2010

As a long time MS Money user, I was forced to convert to Quicken when Microsoft discontinued that software. Quicken promises an "easy" import of your old data. Numerous incompatibilities, however, make this all but useless. After importing the data, Quicken said that my checking account had $100,000 more than was actually there! I suspect that this is because it doesn't support investment accounts, so old transactions to those accounts don't show up. It seems that it would be easy to preserve at least the withdrawal values so you get the starting balance right! I'm just getting started, and I suspect that it will be an ok package on its own, but lack of real support for MS Money users seems silly.

5 out of 5 stars Successfully converted from MS Money to Quicken Deluxe 2010   August 24, 2010

After all of the horror stories I have been dreading this conversion for a month. But I had purchased a new laptop and needed to get off of my old one and this was the last outstanding item. All things considered, it went flawlessly. Here are some notes:

1. You must first install Quicken on a computer with Money 2007 or 2008 if you want to use the conversion tool. I was able to convert 6 years worth of data in under a minute.
2. I was able to download Quicken files from my bank and import them.
3. On the downloaded file from my bank's website, I overlapped one day and it did create duplicates. I simply voided the original transactions that were duplicated and it worked fine after that.
4. On the first credit card download using Quicken's automatic update, it created 8 duplicates out of 841 transactions. Once again, I voided the original transactions, categorized the new ones, and had no more issues on future downloads.
5. I had to change my category structure and use the Quicken category groups to get my budget report to look the way I wanted it to. It took a couple of hours of tweaking and comparing to my MS Money budget report but once I was done, I actually liked it better.
6. My original laptop was a 32bit Vista OS and my new one is a Windows 7 64 bit install. I had no Quicken installation issues on either system.

Please note, I only use the transaction download and budgeting features but I use them avidly. I send out updated Year to Date budget reports to my wife every week along with transaction details for the current month. I am able to accomplish this as quickly if not quicker than I was able to in Money. Maybe it was because my expectations were so low but I am completely satisfied with this product.

1 out of 5 stars Just bad news   August 23, 2010

I am getting to the point that I hate quicken. They badger you for this, they badger you for that. I recently downloaded Quicken Delux 2010 to my new computer. I restored years of financial information to the new Quicken. I worked fine for 3 days. Now it doesn't and I cant find any support. You end up talking to someone half way around the world who can't help you. For a company that has made so much money over the years you would think they could hire Americans. Screw them, I'm going to find my old 2009 CD, reinstall, get a refund from Amazon and never buy another thing from Scott Cook and Intuit. Be careful when you think about upgrading with these people, they have lost touch with the words CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'M SO MAD I COULD SPIT............

1 out of 5 stars Lousy product, lousy support   August 23, 2010

I unfortunately had to upgrade the version of Quicken that I was using that was working perfectly fine but my online bank no longer used that version so I downloaded Quicken 2010 for Mac and I was NEVER able to connect to my bank due to a software issue. This was not an issue with my computer or my bank so I ended up wasting 3 hours of time with a tech who was never able to fix the problem and he offered no future solution. I have written twice to the support department with NO follow on their part. This product and their lack of support sucks.
