I grew up in a small town in northern Utah where we Mormons maintain a 2-years supply of food and water for every person in the household. This book was rather counter-productive with regard to surviving bad times. I'm a good 'survivalist' and can hunt and fish and garden etc and thought that this book would have at least some useful tips, i was wrong. I considered it superficial and non-contributory to helping solve the basic problems. I don't know of any better books but consider this one worthless.

I've long been a believer that real wealth is much more than money in the bank and gold coins stashed safely away someplace. I've actually read several of these survival books lately. For my purposes this book provided the most useful information in the most understandable format. In particular the "least you can do" section is short/two the point and helpful. It is suitable for people who want to prepare for the uncertain future but also want to continue their current life as normal. In addition there are some money saving tips and other advice that will help even if the world doesnt end or tsdoesnthtf.
Keep in mind that the author may not share your political views or may even try and contradict them (scary stuff).
All in all the book delivers, would recommend.
