3 out of 5 stars OK Read   July 27, 2010

Perhaps a little long winded in narrative, but good in telling how to rethink money, professions and raising kids.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome book!   July 26, 2010

This book changed my life! Other than the Holy Bible, it has changed the way I think about money in general. If you want your financial outlook to be average or below, then don't get this book, but if you are willing to step out of the rat race, invest in your own future by reading this one. Very thought provoking and well written. It was hard for me to put this book down. It kept me wanting to see what was on the next pages. I would recommend this one to anyone who thinks a college education is the only way to success. Ha! Read this and look around. Most multimillionaires didn't master the books or get a college degree, but they mastered money! So buy books that will help you master money and you will be well on your way to mastering it yourself.

4 out of 5 stars It's simple, but so good !!!   July 26, 2010

I wasn't a very business-savy person when I first read this book, but I think my mindset on how to make money changed for the better after completing the book! Kiyosaki keeps his writing style simple, and down-to-earth, and that makes the book flow nicely, and you will finish it in just a couple of days. Kiyosaki thinks like a bondafide venture capilatist, and he dispels the notion that a person's house is their biggest asset, it is infact the biggest liability. That's a point he emphasizes constantly, while simplifying how to create streams of income, and take advantage of investment opportunities. He really just gives the reader a system of thought that can help to become wealthy. It's worthwhile, give it a read...

1 out of 5 stars Valid Points, but Ultimately a Fluff Piece   July 22, 2010

This book does have very valid points -

1. Invest in cash flow producing assets that will pay you, your kids, and your kids kids forever,
2. Be savvy,
3. "Think outside the box" (I hate that term).

But it's ridden with made-up examples of how Robert "flips" apartment complexes for hundreds of thousands of dollars of profits, which clearly never occurred, but are inserted to make him out to be an "expert".

He also claims he bought penny stocks that gained thousands of percentage points and made him a millionaire - from one investment in penny stocks! If you've ever invested in penny stocks, maybe, MAYBE 1 out of every 200 stocks actually amount to something, but most are junk and a very, VERY poor invesment recommendation. But of course, he did it!

The "Rich Dad" and the "Poor Dad" are also fictional characters.

Clearly, he needed to convey his points of the "Rich" vs. the "Poor" by creating these characters, which is fine and I get it, just know that 80% of this book is fluff with made up investment returns, but the other 20% is really good stuff.

It's a one star book based on poor writing and a lot of wasteful reading to convey a few valid points that could have been conveyed in a 30 page book. Weak.

5 out of 5 stars A Treasure Chest Replete with Secrets! I'm Going to be Rich!   July 20, 2010
Jack Chu (CA, USA)
Hi there! Welcome.

Yes, I know. I know why you're here. Like many wanderers and travelers in all shapes and sizes before you, you probably heard of the sensation and power behind this book. After all, it is repeatedly a #1 best-seller on the New York Times. Or you were possibly directed here by a helpful guide such as a friend or family member somewhere down the road. At some point, they told you great things about it. But until now, you have decided to check it out for yourself.

Either way, whichever or whatever that impelled you to come here, I am very glad you have journeyed this far. Congrats for making it to this page! Give yourself a pat on the back for making a crucial decision in your life. By choosing to consider whether or not to purchase this book, you now stand at that inevitable crossroad we all come to every single day of our lives--the choice we are all bestowed upon to make each and every day on earth. That crossroad, that choice, is whether or not to change your life for the better.

Take this moment to ask yourself the following questions: Do I want to change my life including that of my loved ones for the better? If so, will I persevere through all the necessary steps no matter how hard they might be in order to bring about this positive change?

Undoubtedly, like most people posed with the same questions, the chances are you answered "yes" to both as well. While this sounds great, and it does, unfortunately the majority of these people will give up when they hit a brick wall. They will submit, effectively giving up all chances to make their lives better, just because something was hard along the way. But remember the words of Thomas Paine: "The harder the triumph, the greater the glory."

With that in mind, don't be like the majority. Be the few. Be the bold few because when you think about it the rich are the minority in society. They do what others can't because they do what others don't want to do. Make a commitment to yourself and stick to it.

Please choose stick it through. Please join me in becoming rich and enjoying the lifestyle that you have been dreaming of all this time. It is never too late, and it is more fun this way. I love companions, and I relish seeing people get better. Do not let me deceive you by my bold invitation. I am not rich yet. Of course, the key word here is "yet."

Yes, true, I am not rich yet. But I can be and I will be. It is only a matter of time. All thanks to this book!

Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money - That the Poor and the Middle Class Do Not! by Robert Kiyosaki with Sharon Lechter is a simple and reader-friendly guide that contains all the priceless secrets to the mindset of the rich. For $7.99, you get these secrets for a real bargain.

But wait a second. Is it just me or do I hear that cynical critic inside of you shouting that this is too good to be true? Now, why would someone sell a book that holds such valuable secrets at a bargain?

The answer is pretty heroic, in my opinion. As he will tell you himself, Robert is not trying to make money from this book. In fact, if it weren't for Sharon who helped Robert compile and revise the scattered pieces of this book, Rich Dad Poor Dad would probably have never been published. Robert doesn't need the money from this book simply because he is wealthy enough as is. He was already retired.

Rather, he wrote this book because he is very concerned about our antiquated educational system that does not teach children about financial literacy. He contends that this is the reason why 90% of Americans are in the proverbial "Rat Race."

What is this so-called Rat Race you ask? Great question. It is that monotonous and never-ending cycle of "getting up, going to work, paying bills, getting up, going to work, paying bills" that iterates on and on. Yes, this will go on forever--for the rest of your life and that of your children and their children's children--if you do not get out of it. You can avoid this generational Rat Race by putting you and your family on the "Fast Track" of the rich.

How? Read this book; both Robert and Sharon will tell you how. The first step is to invest in your financial education by purchasing this book. Only with a basic financial education will you be equipped to start moving onto the Fast Track. In essence, you will learn to "mind your own business" which basically means to build a robust asset column.

Ultimately, as Robert will reveal, being wealthy is a game of attitude. As such, peruse this book thoroughly with an open mind. Be prepared to change your own thinking and align it to the mentality of the rich. Yes, there will be some pain along this journey. Some of your ideas will clash with those presented in the book. Don't fight it. Try to see why Robert says what he says. View the contents from a different perspective.

Let me warn you. If you are hoping to receive "get-rich-quick" formulas, tips, and strategies from this book, you will be disappointed. Whoever told you that they exist in the first place lied to you. There exist none.

This book seeks to open your world to new possibilities staring squarely in your face that you miss on a day-to-day basis. It will broaden your thinking, allowing you to seize the abundant opportunities in life. At the end of the day, you have to use your brain. You have to unleash your own creativity. Solving financial problems requires both.

Lastly, I wish you the very best on your quest toward financial freedom. I hope to see you on the Fast Track in the future. I am very thankful to have picked up this book and absorbed it. I learned about this title for a while now. I was first exposed to it back in my senior year of high school. I am glad that two years worth of life experiences have helped me grasp the profundity of the simple concepts and truths that Robert lays out and wants to democratize. Had I read it then, I doubt I would have understood everything.

In sum, this book deserves more than 5 stars. I give it 5 golden shining stars for being the light that will guide me on my path towards richness. Through it, I have unlocked a treasure chest replete with secrets that I will use throughout my life toward financial success.

And oh yes! That's right. You bet. I am going to be rich!
